Overview
This tour takes you to four most important slave castles and fort in Ghana. It gives you a clear picture and understanding of slave trade in Ghana and Africa for that matter. We begin the tour from the Christiansborg (Osu) Castle. Built in the 17th century by the Danes on the shore of the vibrant of Osu in Accra, Ghana's capital, the Christiansborg Castle has exchanged hands between a number of European countries and has been rebuilt numerous times. For a long time, it used the seat of government. It has now been converted to a presidential museum.
The tour shall also take you to the Elmina Castle and Fort St. Jago in the central region of Ghana. More so, it shall take you to the most visited Cape Coast Castle.
The Cape Coast Castle has been visited by a number of dignitaries including former president and first lady of the United States of America, Barack and Michelle Obama. Current (2020) first lady of the United States of America, Melania Trump has also visited the castle.
These castles are all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The tour also takes you to the Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River, which used to be one of the largest slave markets.
